Equal opportunities statements might well be printed in black and white at the bottom of application forms, but realistically, do they actually count for anything? When rejecting a perfectly well-qualified applicant, it’s very easy to trot out the phrase ‘there was someone with more directly relevant experience than you’. Nobody will be any the wiser as to whether that is the real reason or not; it’s impossible to prove. So in our evermore touchy-feely society, is having a disability in the current job market any less of a stigma now than it once was?

Alex has been working in advertising for over 25 years. Today he works on the Land Rover, Lloyds and Dell accounts for RKCR/Y&R. If, like me, you are registered with a number of job sites, you will probably get a weekly or even daily glut of emails telling you that you really ought to think about taking some sort of training course. Over countless bowls of wonton soup, we worked out a way of communicating with each other and slowly but surely the ideas began to spark. On one heady occasion we even managed to get some work into D&AD. In fact the guy from Thailand turned out to be a real creative genius. So today I’d like to introduce you to Thor Santisiri, former Chairman and Executive Creative Director of TBWA/Thailand. And my old art director.
