Animated music videos only crop up once in a blue moon but when they do they can really bring a song to life. As the number of animation techniques and styles has increased over time, the videos on offer have become increasingly diverse. Spanning through the decades, here are fifteen of the best animated music videos for your viewing pleasure.

The nature of success is paradoxical. It seems there is a level, close to the very top of the showbiz ladder, where the popularity, credibility and sheer momentum which thrust a performer to the pinnacle of their career, begin to reverse their polarity and sabotage the ascent.
It had a running time of four minutes. It featured 29 world famous musicians who were paid just beer money. It took a year to make. And it featured a song that up until then had managed to avoid the charts for 22 years.

September 27th will see the release of Björk’s highly acclaimed new album ‘Biophilia’ which looks to be her most ambitious work to date. Not one to work within the normal boundaries of being a musician, Björk has taken on the worlds of nature, science and technology and has merged them altogether to create something no one else has done before.
The hype is already starting to form around Google+. Or to give it it’s full name, ‘The Google+ Project’, which somewhat makes it sound as if Google have started a seventies prog rock band. The new features of ‘Circles’, ‘Sparks’ and “Hangouts’ all sound very cool and trendy and these features do have some very useful pragmatic value.
It is all to easy, however, to get carried away with a social media site prior to its launch or just after it has been released. There is a long list of sites that have promised to be the new Facebook only to somehow fall far short of their expectations.
I’m all for innovation, me. Water powered cars – brilliant! Series record on the PVR – fantastic! Those internets – loving ‘em! But, when it comes to new developments, I do insist on one thing: it must make life easier rather than harder. It has to be simple.
Hooray for E4. Not only do they supply us with a seemingly inexhaustible supply of ‘Friends’ (which always seems to conveniently tie in with tea breaks and dinner time), they also support independent short film makers with their rather revolutionary love for E Stings.
